“Today, like never before, Information systems and technology are strategic enablers and provide competitive advantage. The challenges facing senior IT executives are tremendous and demand nothing short of top performance and leadership – going way beyond technical and managerial competence, which while still absolutely critical, is no longer sufficient. Today’s senior IT executive must have a very strong business perspective in order to drive the maximum value from Information Systems and Technology investment. They must have the leadership competencies essential for developing strong working relationships with the business and executive team; for constructing and articulating a shared IT vision and strategy; for developing talented, responsive Information Systems organizations; and for effective management of a large scale delivery function ensuring quality projects and services and a reliable and available infrastructure is in place.”

LNA is the largest diversified supplier of cement, gypsum and construction materials in the US and Canada with three operating divisions, over one thousand operating locations, sixteen thousand employees and revenues approaching four billion USD. While Brian was at the Lafarge IT helm, the company grew fivefold and the integration of major acquisitions became a standing order. The IT Vision that Brian constructed for Lafarge North America is enduring and remains as a valued legacy for Lafarge today and for the foreseeable future. This IT vision promotes a communications and information driven company culture where Information Technology is leveraged to create value, to maintain an edge over competitors and to achieve company goals. It is enabled where the IT organization is a strategic member of the business, a world class customer focused team, an employer of choice and is unified by overarching guiding principles, operating practices and architectural standards.
Previous to Lafarge, Brian was the Director for Information Systems at the Iron Ore Company of Canada - IOC (1985 – 1988).
