
Chief Administrative Officer
The City of Clarence-Rockland is a quiet, picturesque city nestled on the shores of the historic Ottawa River, an important waterway for early explorers, fur traders and missionaries. With its humble beginnings as a lumber town almost 140 years ago, Clarence-Rockland has matured into a beautiful city of a little over 23,000 people. Situated just 32 kilometers east of Parliament Hill and about 170 kilometers west of Montreal, the area offers both the quiet of the countryside and the urban offerings of a big city.
Reporting to Council, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) will successfully deliver the highest calibre of progressive, practical and responsive services to Clarence-Rockland residents, businesses and visitors. The CAO will contribute leadership, strategy, direction and enthusiasm to the organization and will work closely with Council and the management team to develop and implement a compelling vision and strategy, establish targets and set standards of performance. Desired qualifications:
- University degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant field such as public administration, municipal government, business, finance, planning and engineering or in some other acceptable combination of education and management experience in the public sector.
- 10 years progressive, responsible municipal or business management experience at a senior management level.
- Superior leadership, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, analytical, customer service skills and political intuition, who works well in a high pressure, ever-changing environment.
- Proven success in leadership, negotiating, conflict resolution, project management, change management and a clear understanding of federal, provincial and municipal legislation, public sector accounting and strategic planning are required.
- Proficiency in both official languages is mandatory.
